In 1998 a group of volunteer Hispanic physicians came together to form a unique association. They recognized the need, in this community, of a medical association interested in getting involved in health issues affecting Latinos.

To date, HAMA has thirty-six members representing multiple specialties in the medical field, providing us with a unique perspective into the health care needs of the people we serve.

Our mission is to serve the community and to teach ways to improve their quality of life, by providing them with the proper information decisions for their health and the health of their families. Since our formation we have become a positive force in Mercer County in many different ways: by participating in health fairs throughout the county, by supporting other organizations that work with and for Hispanics in our area, by awarding scholarships to Hispanic students enrolled in careers in health care field and by being part of statewide and countrywide organizations which have policy making implications on behalf of Hispanics.

We are proud of our accomplishments in our short existence. However, this is only the beginning, because the more we get involved the more needs we recognize.

Please join us in this wonderful journey!

HAMA has offered 37 scholarships so far to students of Hispanic decent pursuing courses of study in health related fields.

To apply for a HAMA scholarship, the applicant must have these minimum requirements:

1. Applicant must be of Hispanic descent.
2. Applicant is enrolled in an approved institution and following a health related profession...
